Apple's two failed iPhones in 2025

The interest in the iPhone 17 series is high, particularly for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models, which are outselling their predecessors. The iPhone Air has a different tale to tell; sales haven't been great, with reports showing low demand and major production cuts.  In contrast to the heavily publicized flop of the iPhone Air, there hasn't been much info on how the iPhone 16e is doing in sales. Early reports suggested it was doing pretty well, but it seems that wasn't up to Apple's standards.  Sales of the iPhone 16e and iPhone Air aren't meeting Apple's expectations, as per info from leaker Fixed Focus Digital (source in Chinese). While no exact figures were shared, the leaker suggests that Apple's effort to launch a popular, budget-friendly iPhone hasn't succeeded. Even with the challenges, Apple is still set to roll out successors for both models. The iPhone 17e is anticipated to launch on time in spring 2026, whereas the iPhone Air ...

Root I317MVLBMA3 Galaxy Note 2 SGH-I317M OTA 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Bell, Rogers, Telus, Virgin, Sasktel

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 SGH-I317M in Canada just received the official 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OTA update with build number I317MVLBMA3. For users who wants to root this 4.1.2 VLBMA3 update and also for those who already lost root if it was rooted before the update - "4.1.1 I317MVLALJ2" can now simply root using the pre-rooted or root injected stock image I317MVLBMA3 which developed by an Elite Recognized Contributor MrRobinson from +xda-developers

This is a suitable rooting method for beginners who only needs root on their Galaxy Note 2 devices, and just only wants to perform an installation with any variety of apps from +Google Play that requires root.

One best thing about using the root injected stock image is that "it doesn't trip the binary flash counter of the Galaxy Note 2. If you doesn't know about what the heck this flash counter is. It's works just like a security system that has been installed in the device, this counter will trip and counts from zero to any numbers during an installation or flashing any system images that is not officially provided by Samsung, like root kernels, custom ROMs and custom recoveries. Once the counter being tripped, it was told that it voids the warranty of the device.

Although, it can be easily reset back to zero. But if you aren't that much a tech-savvy this will ease you from further tweaking. This is also a good root method for advance users who wants to install custom ROMs or recoveries like CWM or TWRP right after installation.

  •  Bell  - root66_BMC_I317MVLBMA3.7z

    Rogers  - root66_RWC_I317MVLBMA3.7z

  • Use PC with Windows OS (Odin will not work on Mac and Linux OSX)
  • Make sure to fully recharge your phablet's battery
  • Use the original supplied USB cable for your Galaxy Note2
  • You don't need to back-up the files from your phone for this will not wipe data during installation. But just in-case for safety precautions - just make a back-up copy of your important files stored from the device.
Disclaimer: Use of this root method is solely at your own risk! Please proceed with precautions.
1. Extract or "unzip" the downloaded file. Use Winzip, 7zip, Winrar or whatever decompressing tool you have in your computer or laptop. You cannot flash the file in Odin in .zip format, it should be ending with .tar.md5.

Rogers  - root66_RWC_I317MVLBMA3.tar.md5
Bell  - root66_BMC_I317MVLBMA3.tar.md5
Telus - root66_TLS_I317MVLBMA3.tar.md5
Sasktel - root66_BWA_I317MVLBMA3.tar.md5
Virgin - root66_VMC_I317MVLBMA3.tar.md5

2. Run Odin on your PC desktop

3. Boot the Galaxy Note 2 into download mode screen for Odin.

Turn it off, once completely shut down hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME DOWN' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 2 seconds until a WARNING! Screen appears. Press the 'VOLUME UP' button to continue or to enter in Download Mode.

4. Connect the phone to your computer using the USB cable. Then make sure you can see as phone "Added" in Odin's message box once the device is detected,

5. In Odin window, DO NOT tick the 'RE-Partition' only Tick 'Auto Reboot' and 'F. Reset Time' and nothing else.

6. Now load the rooted stock system image "root66_XXX_I317MVLBMA3.tar.md5" on the PDA field. Click the PDA button then browse and select to the extracted file.
For example, I used Bell's image on this guide so I have the root66_BMC_I317MVLBMA3.tar.md5
Odin screenshot:

7. Click the  "Start" button to flash the stock ROM with root system image.

8. Wait until the flashing finishes and the phone completely reboots. Then remove the device from PC connection.

Additional info after root:

How to save root when OTA update notification arrives.

If you receive a notification for an OTA update, it has been confirmed that you can use OTA RootKeeper to retain root through the update process. But if the Rootkeeper fails saving the root, you may need to root again either using this same rooting technique.

How can I unroot my Galaxy Note 2 if I ever want to.

You can easily un-root or undo everything anytime you want. All you need to have is the original, unrooted or unmodified stock firmware I317MVLBMA3, you can grab it on the links below.

Virgin Mobile- I317MVLBMA3_I317MOYABMA3_VMC.zip
