High-End Android Phones Powered with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

Some smartphones featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 have already been launched in China, with many expecting a global release shortly after. A growing list of flagship smartphones are expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which was officially announced in late September 2025. The chipset is anticipated to power top-tier Android devices throughout late 2025 and 2026, with several phones already confirmed or heavily rumored. Xiaomi 17 series: The Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max were confirmed as the first phones to use this chip. Xperia Z, Tablet Z, ZL and ZR Update to 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Build 10.3.1.A.0.244, AOSP Source Also Available

Sony has started releasing the 4.2.2 Jelly Bean software update on Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, XperiaTablet Z, and Xperia ZR to build version 10.3.1.A.0.244. The first rolled out has landed on Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL and Xperia ZR the second rolled out hitting Xperia Tablet Z LTE version, but the WiFi only variants should follow soon.


Those who missed this update should fire-up that PC Companion or through OTA. The open source build 10.3.1.A.0.244 for developers is now also available for download at Sony Mobile. Anyway, also watch out for the upcoming 4.3 update since the AOSP has now been seen running on the Xperia Tablet Z.

The paint chipping issue reported by some Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 users appears to be a recurring problem that was also seen with the Z Fold 6. Despite users claiming they have not dropped their devices, paint delamination is occurring on the anodized aluminum body. Samsung’s support page for the Z Fold 6 suggests that poorly grounded third-party chargers can cause leakage currents, damaging the anodized finish and leading to paint chipping. This is why Samsung advises using only official chargers. However, since at least one affected user on Reddit reported using an official 25W Samsung charger, it raises concerns that the problem might not be solely due to third-party chargers.
