After installing the update on my Verizon GS5, I've encountered issues related to mobile data network usage. For example, the Gmail app will no longer check for messages while on mobile data. If I manually check for messages (open app; pull down to refresh), messages will be retrieved, but this is the only way to get messages. I have to manually check. Switching to WIFI "fixes" the problem, but I can't always be on WIFI.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed the same/similar problem with other apps, as well. theScore, for example, no longer provides me with scoring updates for teams I am following unless I open the app and manually check for scoring updates. Again, this issue is not present on WIFI.
Ingress is another app that has issues with mobile data usage under the latest OTA. With Ingress, however, the app never proceeds beyond the splash screen showing the Ingress logo and build version. Again, the issue is not present on WIFI, but since Ingress is a location based game, WIFI is of little use.
I've replicated the above issues on two separate devices. I've swapped SIM cards on my device. I've disabled/uninstalled Google+ (to correct a conflict with the VZWAVSService - though I still think there are issues here). I've uninstalled and reinstalled some of the affected apps. I've used the "reset settings" option (but NOT the factory data reset).
Nothing I've tried has made a difference in the issues described above.
I haven't been able to find other reports of similar issues, though I'm confident I'm not the only one.
This has been my experience so far. Verizon can't/won't help, so if anyone can point me in the right direction...
