How to Root G900W8VLU1BOB3 Galaxy S5 Canadian Lollipop Update

Achieve root on G900W8VLU1BOB3 5.0 Lollipop update on Canadian Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-N900W8. To root the G900W8VLU1BOB3 Lollipop update, you can still use the CF-Auto-Root "hltecan-hlteevl-smn900w8" version. This root method have had been used on older 4.4.2 KitKat updates but the main consequences  on this root method is that it will trip the KNOX counter to '0x1' from the untouched warranty counter '0x0'. The rooting process is yet simple for those who already done some rooting before, but if you are new in rooting you might have to keep in mind that there is a risk involves and some downside on a rooted phone. One of these is that you might not be able to get the official OTA update anymore and you have to learn how to unroot and restore back your phone to its official state.
In addition, some fellas at XDA-developers had tested the CF-Auto-root method and confirmed that it worked finely on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update G900W8VLU1BOB3.

Anyways, if anyone finds a root method that works, can you please share it here ?

Edit: Ok I got it rooted using CF-Auto-Root-kltecan-kltevl-smg900w8.tar and Odin 3.09
Taken from Chainfire's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2696537
Note that it did trip knox 0x1 and now I can't software update OTA anymore since it's custom.
Root works though! even after restarting many times.

And here's another confirmation that the CF-Auto-Root do worked.

For those who are new about rooting the Galaxy S5 SM-G900W8 we have already covered the step-by-step guide on how to root using CF-Auto-Root here. Along with the guide are some pros and cons for those who did not do any rooting procedures ever before.

Update: This root method has found issues by many and it did not worked perfectly. Thanks to those who informed us with their comments.
Anyway, the G900W8VLU1BOB3 update has been pulled out by Samsung and replaced by a new 5.0 Lollipop update G900W8VLU1BOC1, due to an issue  that has been found with the home button.

  3. Tried above method and appeared to work for awhile. However, phone froze later and would not restart with any method. Has to flash phone and do a full Wipe. Now ok. Note: I'm on Rogers and this md5 has bell icons in the os?

  4. So this is still unrootable? I like the lolipop update would greatly like my root back so I can use my rooted apps :)
