High-End Android Phones Powered with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

Some smartphones featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 have already been launched in China, with many expecting a global release shortly after. A growing list of flagship smartphones are expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which was officially announced in late September 2025. The chipset is anticipated to power top-tier Android devices throughout late 2025 and 2026, with several phones already confirmed or heavily rumored. Xiaomi 17 series: The Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max were confirmed as the first phones to use this chip. Verizon Galaxy Note 5 SM-N920V Receives Security Patch Update to Build N920VVRU2AOGJ

Verizon is sending its first OTA update on the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (SM-N920V). The update will bump up the latter's Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS to N920VVRU2AOGJ from its initial build N920VVRU2AOGI. The update primarily adds the new security patch for Exynos chipset vulnerability.  Therefore, it's only a minor incremental update to which mainly address the recent bug (Stagefright) vulnerability but also brings additional improvements to the device performance.

While some other US carrier's Galaxy Note 5 has also been receiving the same update, but somehow only Verizon's Galaxy Note 5 that did not include a new feature like the Samsung Pay. Only knowing that Verizon is not part and tied up with the new mobile payment in the United States. But anyhow, Verizon Galaxy Note 5 do still have the other mobile payment like the Android Pay.

The Android Security Patch is just the initial changelog details and we couldn't confirm any other fixes like the wireless charging issues that have been reported by some users. So to those who are rocking the Verizon Galaxy Note 5, you folks might better check the update manually and take a look for a while how the device perform once the update has made.

To update via Over-The-Air (OTA), it may require you to connect your Galaxy Note 5 to a Wi-Fi network to  get rid of high data charges.
  • From the device Home screen, simply tap Apps.
  • Tap the Settings (gear icon).
  • Tap the System tab.
  • Tap About device.
  • Tap Software update.
  • Tap Check for updates.
  • Tap the Install button, then OK.

The paint chipping issue reported by some Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 users appears to be a recurring problem that was also seen with the Z Fold 6.
