T-Mobile Galaxy S6 & S6 edge Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Update Started, G920TUVU3EPD1 & G925TUVU3EPD1 builds
The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920T)and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge (SM-G925T) has finally pushed. Earlier today, T-Mobile have just made the official announcement that the said Marshmallow update for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge has finally been approved and it's launched via over the air. Noting that T-Mobile has also made a report that the Android Marshmallow has been undergone into a testing stage for a quite some time now. The Galaxy S6 update is dubbed with software build version G920TUVU3EPD1, while the S6 Edge will also receive the update G925TUVU3EPD1 build.
In addition, there some few differences with this released, as the initial changelog details have mentioned that there are some pre-installed apps have been removed. As you may also noticed, it comes out as newer build since the security patch level is already set on April 02, 2016 as indicated.

This is the usual method on how to check and to perform an update on Galaxy S6 edge to the latest software version. This method is what we called Firmware Update Over-The-Air and so-called as FOTA or simply OTA update. In most often cases, a notification message will be directly sent out to you by your network provider and by Samsung itself, telling you that there is a new update that has now available for download. This approach requires you to prepare a strong WiFi connection, and so it might happen sometimes that one did not receive any software update notification messages; (1) If and when the device is out of range during the software update roll out period, (2) Automatic update has been turned off in the device Settings.
However, We can still manually check for the update instead.
Here’s how to do it manually:
It will then notify you that a new update is available for download. But it also says that “Your device software is up to date“, and there is no software update is yet available for grab. You can simply choose Install now if you do so or else Install later if you want to get the update in later time.
But if ever you might have had received this message while checking software update that says something like “The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way. Try downloading software updates using Smart Switch on your computer or visit a customer service center.” This is a warning message that only appears for those devices that have been rooted and installed with modified and unofficial firmware. So to be able to get the Software OTA update again, you must Unroot the Galaxy S6 edge first, and or removed any modification that has been installed in it.

What does this mean?
ReplyDeleteThe following functions have been deleted: Facebook Messanger, Instagram, Whatsapp.
Will I no longer be able to use those apps?
This update is horrible. How do I get rid of the double locked screen.
ReplyDeleteYou can still use it. Those are 3rd party apps and not related to Samsung nor from T-Mobile. They deleted it intentionally as it caused some issues running on Android M. You can still reinstall it all by yourself from playstore.
ReplyDeleteHi, I have SM-G920T factory unlocked version (G920TUEU3COK1). Can I Install this upgrade 6.0.1 manually trough ODIN? There are no marshmallow updates on my device by OTA or KIES. Or better wait for the update for this specific device.
ReplyDeleteIt will work though. Same model number means same firmware but differs on each baseband, CSC, buildnumbers. The factory unlock version is directly supported by Samsung itself whilst T-Mo solely support their own SM-G920T.
