AT&T is now rolling out the monthly Android device Security maintenance update on Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920A) and Galaxy S6 edge (SM-G925A). The update will bring the November Android security patches and bumps up AT&T's Galaxy S6 Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS to version G920AUCS5DPK1. While the Galaxy S6 edge on the other hand will also move to build version G925AUCS5DPK1. Though it's just a small OTA update and brings nothing more any adverse effect for the device but still it plays with an important part for the sake of the device security. Also, noting that the Android 7.0 Nougat update is coming soon, so the device should be running in latest updates at the very least so it can surely get the Nougat update when that time comes.

This method is what we called Firmware Update Over-The-Air and so-called as FOTA or simply OTA update. In most often cases, a notification message will be directly sent out to you by your network provider and by Samsung itself, telling you that there is a new update that has now available for download. This approach requires you to prepare a strong WiFi connection, and so it might happen sometimes that one did not receive any software update notification messages; (1) If and when the device is out of range during the software update roll out period, (2) Automatic update has been turned off in the device Settings.
However, We can still manually check for the update instead.
Here’s how to do it manually:
It will then notify you that a new update is available for download. But it also says that “Your device software is up to date“, and there is no software update is yet available for grab. You can simply choose Install now if you do so or else Install later if you want to get the update in later time.
But if ever you might have had received this message while checking software update that says something like “The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way. Try downloading software updates using Smart Switch on your computer or visit a customer service center.” This is a warning message that only appears for those devices that have been rooted and installed with modified and unofficial firmware. So to be able to get the Software OTA update again, you must Unroot the Galaxy S6 edge first, and or removed any modification that has been installed in it.
