Some smartphones featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 have already been launched in China, with many expecting a global release shortly after. A growing list of flagship smartphones are expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which was officially announced in late September 2025. The chipset is anticipated to power top-tier Android devices throughout late 2025 and 2026, with several phones already confirmed or heavily rumored. Since all Canadian carriers has already pushed the Android 7.0 Nougat update on Galaxy S6 edge+ few days ago and hopefully made an announcements that the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge will also get its Nougat update beginning May 1st. Well, it seems what the folks promised is accurate since we have just spotted the Android 7.0 Nougat update the Galaxy S6 SM-G920W8 and the Galaxy S6 edge SM-G925W8 at Samsung's firmware server.
Here's what we've got:
These build versions are now in queue status for Telus and Bell Galaxy S6 and S6 edge as of this moment. But noting that all Canadian carriers usually released the same firmware build version.
Again, the rolling out hasn't started yet, but it's a good indication that the said Nougat update will surely arrive on these coming few days. So, better keep an eye of the said Nougat updates if you owned either the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge.
