High-End Android Phones Powered with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

Some smartphones featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 have already been launched in China, with many expecting a global release shortly after. A growing list of flagship smartphones are expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which was officially announced in late September 2025. The chipset is anticipated to power top-tier Android devices throughout late 2025 and 2026, with several phones already confirmed or heavily rumored. Xiaomi 17 series: The Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max were confirmed as the first phones to use this chip. Canada's Galaxy S6, S6 edge and S6 edgeplus Receiving August 2017 Android Security Updates

Canadian owners of the Galaxy S6, S6 edge, and the S6 edge+ has started receiving the monthly Android security updates. It is bundled and are still based in the recent Android 7.0 Nougat.  But this time, the said updates includes the August 1, 2017 Android security patch level.

In addition, among all major Canadian carriers, Bell's Galaxy S6, S6 and the S6 edge+ support pages has now updated to show the information about the release.  But other carriers such Telus, Rogers, and the rest might also have their own release schedules.

Again, only Bell has made an official announcement so far,  while other carriers has also release their own statement to reflect the said update. So if you've got the galaxy S6, s6, edge and S6 edge+ but yet haven’t received the said updates, just make sure to hit your device Settings > About device > Check for Updates.


How to Update a Galaxy S6 and a S6 edge via Over-The-Air


Ensure your battery is fully charged before starting the software update. This is a must and very important part to get rid of some issues if ever the software update being interrupted due to a power failure.
From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key > Settings > About device > Software updates > Check for Updates.
If your device finds a new software update, then simply grab it and install. When complete, a screen will appear advising you that the new version of software is ready to be installed. Tap Install the update. The device will power down and power back on. A screen will appear stating that the installation has been completed. Tap OK.

The paint chipping issue reported by some Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 users appears to be a recurring problem that was also seen with the Z Fold 6.
