An Over-The-Air (OTA) monthly Android Security Maintenance update is heading it way on Galaxy Note 5 in Canada. The update is said to bring the August 1, 2017 Android security patch level, while bumping the device recent Android 7.0 Nougat OS to version N920W8VLS4CQH1.
The August 2017 Android security update contains 50 patches for vulnerabilities found on Android OS. While Samsung also around 12 patches for their own application vulnerabilities.
In addition, this update is now the 4th Android 7.0 Nougat landed on the Canadian variants of the Galaxy Note5. This release version are being deployed on all major and minor Canadian carriers Galaxy Note5, including Bell, Rogers, Freedom, Fido, Videotron, Sasktel, Virgin-Mobile, and MTS.

How to Update Galaxy Note 5 via Over-The-Air:
Make sure your phone’s battery is fully re-charged before starting the software update. This is a must and very important part to get rid of some issues if ever the software update being interrupted due to a power failure.
- From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key > Settings > About device > Software updates > Check for Updates.
- If your device finds a new software update, tap Download now.
- When the download complete, a screen will appear advising you that the new version of software is ready to be installed. Tap Install update.
- The device will power down and power back on. A screen will appear stating that the installation has been completed. Tap OK.
- One the phone reboots, you may head back to Settings > About device to double-check if you’ve successfully updated your Galaxy Note 5 OS to Android 7.0 Nougat version.
