Sprint Galaxy S6, S6 edge and S6 edge+ July 2017 Security Updates

If you owned a Sprint Galaxy S6 or a S6 edge and S6 edge+ then you must have or about to received a new software update notification. Sprint is sending out the monthly security update that brings the July 2017 Android security patches. It's basically just a security patches that brings no other changes to the said devices recent Android 7.0 Nougat OS.

The update will move the Sprint Galaxy S6 (SM-G920P) current Android 7.0 Nougat to version G920PVPU4DQG4 from G920PVPS4DQF1.  Same goes to the Galaxy S6 edge (SM-G925P) that will also bump to Nougat version G925PVPU4DQG4 from G925PVPS4DQF1. While on the other hand, the Galaxy S6 edge+  (plus SM-G928P) to Nougat version G928PVPU3DQG2 from its previous released version G928PVPS3DQF1.

In addition,  Sprint  Galaxy S6, S6 edge, and S6 edge+ support pages has no longer been updated  to show the said updates. So we have no idea to when the exact date of the rolling out starts.  But anyways, if you’ve got a Sprint Galaxy S6 or an S6 edge and a S6 edge+,  you can manually check for a software update by going into Settings > About device> Check for an Update.

How to Update a Sprint Galaxy S6, S6 edge and S6 edge+ via Over-The-Air

Ensure your battery is fully charged before starting the software update. This is a must and very important part to get rid of some issues if ever the software update being interrupted due to a power failure.

From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key > Settings > About device > Software updates > Check for Updates.
If your device finds a new software update, tap Download now. When complete, a screen will appear advising you that the new version of software is ready to be installed. Tap Install the update.
The device will power down and power back on. A screen will appear stating that the installation has been completed. Tap OK.
