According to users reports, this issue usually happens when photos are taken on an Android phone and then transferred to an iPhone. The bug has been found on both iOS 26.1 and iOS 26.2. Tech site 9to5Mac suggests that the problem may be caused by an error in how the iOS Photos app reads color information.
The good news is that there’s an easy temporary fix. You don’t need to restart your phone, reinstall apps, or reset your device. Simply open the affected photo, tap the Edit button, and then tap Restore in the top-left corner without changing any settings. This will refresh the photo’s color data and return it to normal.
You can also fix it by tapping the “…” button in the top-right corner of the editing screen and selecting Restore. Both methods work the same way and only take a few seconds.
Overall, this red photo issue does not seem to be widespread, and there have been no reports of it in Taiwan so far. If you use both Android and iOS devices, it’s a good idea to watch out for this problem. Until Apple releases an official update, you can use these simple steps to fix the issue whenever it appears.
