This is not the Android 5.1.1, Lollipop, that everyone might have been waiting and looking for, but it contains a security patch to fix and resolve an issue about the Stagefright bug. I wonder when we'll see 5.1. Unlike many users, I find stock Lollipop very satisfactory and am especially pleased with the improved camera performance. Still, I'd like to be able to flash a custom ROM or, at least, customize the stock ROM just to suit my own tastes. If it ever becomes possible to flash a Nexus-like ROM, I'll be all over it.
ReplyDeleteThe problem now, though, is that all of the available firmware downloads/root procedures that I've seen are advertised to work on the G900PVPU3BOG1 firmware build. In fact most require that your ROM /= 5.0; and the one root process I did find for 5.0 only works on the "vanilla" release, before the Stagefright fix.
What's the holdup at Sprint?
