High-End Android Phones Powered with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

Some smartphones featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 have already been launched in China, with many expecting a global release shortly after. A growing list of flagship smartphones are expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which was officially announced in late September 2025. The chipset is anticipated to power top-tier Android devices throughout late 2025 and 2026, with several phones already confirmed or heavily rumored. Here comes the end of August 2017, and September approaches too past.  That means another batch of the monthly Android security updates were making its rounds on the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge users all over the world.

In this post, we are rounding up each particular Galaxy S6 and S6 edge variants that has received the said August 2017 Android Security Updates provided by Google and Samsung itself.

Anyways, the August 2017 monthly Security Maintenance Release (SMR) includes 51  patches on Google Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE), and 12 patches on Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE).

Among other US carriers, AT&T unleashed the August 2017 security updates, then followed by Verizon. While Sprint and  T-Mobile might also release its own but it could be coming late until on the first week of September 2017.

All of the Canadian carriers has also released an update to the country's Galaxy S6 and S6 edge variants, the SM-G920W8 and SM-G925W8. The update rolled out on August 26, 2017.
