Root T999UVDLJC Tmo Galaxy S3 SGH-T999 4.1.1 Jelly Bean OTA update

We have now a working root for T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 latest 4.1.1 Jelly Bean OTA update build T999UVDLJC. Again, this root method has been proven safe, since it is already 100% tested from earlier released - T999UVALH2, T999UVALJ4 and T999UVDLJA. The best part of this root method is that, it doesn't trip the binary flash counter of your Galaxy S3 and then you can still receive any future official update like the 4.1.2 that might probably will be coming soon.


This rooting technique uses the the original stock firmware "UVDLJC" which already pre-injected with root image, and once installed it will automatically root the device, without having any trace as modified. This is perfectly works for those Galaxy S3 users who only wants the original or stock recovery, but it also works for those who wants to install any custom ROM or any custom recoveries like CWM and TWRP.

Root T999UVDLJC Quick Guide

  • Odin flasher - Odin3_v3.07
  • USB Driver - Download then install it
  • Download and Extract the root66_TMO_T999UVDLJC.7z from MrRobinson's XDA original thread.
  • http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771687
  • Use PC with Windows OS (Odin will not work on Mac and Linux OSX)
  • Make sure to fully recharge your battery
  • Use the original supplied USB cable for your Galaxy S3
  • You don't need to back-up the files from your phone for this will not wipe data during installation. But just in-case for safety precautions - just make a back-up copy of your important files store from the device.

1. Run Odin on your PC desktop

2. Boot the Galaxy S3 into download mode screen for Odin.

Turn it off, once completely shut down hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME DOWN' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 2 seconds until a WARNING! Screen appears. Press the 'VOLUME UP' button to continue or enter Download Mode.


3. Connect the phone to PC via USB. Then make sure you can see as phone "Added" in Odin log box or highlight the COM:ID once the device is detected,

4. In Odin window, DO Not tick 'RE-Partition' only Tick 'Auto Reboot' and 'F. Reset Time' and nothing else.

5. Now load the root system image root66_TMO_T999UVDLJC.tar.md5 (for T-Mobile Galaxy S3) on the PDA field. Click the PDA button then browse and select to the extracted file.

6. Click the  "Start" button to flash the stock ROM with root system image.

7. Wait until the flashing finishes and the phone completely reboots. Then remove the device from PC connection.

8. That's it! You may then check if your device is already rooted.

How to save root when OTA update notification arrives.
If you receive a notification for an OTA update, it has been confirmed that you can use OTA RootKeeper to retain root through the update process.

How to unroot if I ever want to.
You can easily un-root or undo everything anytime you want. All you need to have is the original stock firmware T999UVDLJC, you can grab it here. Just simply flash it through Odin, as same flashing process as above.
